Lighted Handheld 5" Dual Lens Magnifier

As we’ve aged, everything starts to lose some of its ability, and our eyes are no exception. The trouble is, printed documents we still have to read use the same size type as used in our youth. There are some books, papers, etc that have been large-type printed to accommodate those of us that are ocularly-challenged, but we anticipate the bi-focal glasses market to only grow over the next decade or so. I converted to the bi-focal group a few years ago when my arms were no longer long enough to adjust for what my eyes could not.

Even armed with our new glasses, some typeface (like the fine print in any contract) and other activities or hobbies require a closer inspection than general purpose everyday eyewear can provide. Time for that centuries-old solution…the magnifying glass.

Long a device used for seeing (and usually when removing) things like splinters, hairs, stingers, and whatever miniscule object pierces us, the magnifier was usually a cheap, scratched, and often blurry viewer that resided in the junk drawer until needed on those rare occasions (not so rare at my house with three active kids). As we have aged, the trusty magnifier has become a frequently used must-have item that now occupies a prominent place on desktops and hobby tables everywhere for daily “non-emergency” use.
